Test the installation

This test creates a project, builds it and opens it in the Designer's own engine. If it works, the extension, Java, Maven and the engine all work together. It assumes Install the Designer is done, including its command prompt check.

Plan 15 minutes, if everything runs smoothly.

Note

Note

The first build downloads a considerable number of Maven dependencies. Depending on your connection this takes several minutes, and later builds are much faster.

Steps

  1. Start VS Code and open an empty folder in your working directory: File ‣ Open Folder.

  2. Wait until the engine has finished downloading. The progress shows in the bottom right corner.

  3. Open the Command Palette with Ctrl+Shift+P and run Axon Ivy: Add Axon Ivy Project.

  4. Enter a project name and let the project be created.

  5. Open the Command Palette again and run Axon Ivy: Build and Deploy all Projects.

  6. Wait until the build has finished.

  7. Click Browser in the middle of the status bar at the bottom. The integrated browser opens.

  8. Click the house icon in that browser.

You should see the Axon Ivy start page, displayed in full. That is the test passed.

If it does not get that far
